Jardín del TuriaFor many years the river Turia ran straight through the city of Valencia. When in 1957 the river caused a terrible flood, the authorities decided to dry out the river throughout town. Nowadays the dried out riverbed which runs through the heart of the city is known as the Jardín del Turia. The Jardín del Turia is a huge nature park split up in different sections, which houses hundreds of recreational and sport facilities (for both kids and adults), parks and gardens. Other than that, along the old Turia riverbed you will find many of Valencia’s most important museums, monuments and other interesting tourist attractions like the City of Arts and Sciences (La Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias). |
